 I just returned from a few days as an invited guest at a stunning villa
in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico: The Casa Caleta Vallarta. The experience was far out of the ordinary for me, and in a way that made it easy to unwind completely.
Sometimes you just need to do that. But now it's back to the real world. Enough relaxation and back to work. And so, there are a few things going on here...
First, a refresh of this site goes live today. And I'm also going to reboot this blog, at least for a while.
While building the site, I revisited Steven Alexander's excellent blog, PeopleSoft and SQR.
It is packed full of technical and very specific information, mostly about SQR but often with a PeopleSoft slant. The last time I'd visited his site, he had landed a new job
and simply said that he would be too busy to keep up the blog. He wrote:
The Internet is littered with inactive blogs, and some observers scorn the authors who stop writing. That seems a little unfair. True, there are
single-entry blogs, but there are also blogs that are more or less complete. If I were to write a textbook on PeopleSoft and SQR, nobody would complain that it was finite.
I think I've written just about everything I had to say. This blog was an adventure in self-expression and an effort to benefit my fellow PeopleSoft specialists.
I have completed the first and I hope I've achieved the second.
No question about that. Inactive or not, the site remains a valuable resource. And yes, it is a little unfair to expect a blog to run forever. (He actually did post
a few times after that.)
At least Steven "signed off"—unlike myself. My blog has been inactive for nearly three years. Just ran out of things to say. But things do change, and we all continue to learn,
and so I have a few topics to cover now. There is a disclaimer above the old posts in the archive (over there —>) that some of the information may be a little dated.
But most of it should still be relevant. And even now I hear from readers who found a particular post useful (or wrong!—in which case I try to correct it).
Finally, in the meantime, I'm preparing to release an update to the SQR debugger. It will be announced within the application (at the bottom
of the Configuration Panel) and on this blog.
