Well, last week was a little hectic and you may have noticed
that I skipped a post. This week is shaping up the same
way... Starting next week, I'll normally post on Wednesdays
instead of Mondays. As always, I welcome your comments
and suggestions for topics.
Did you ever need to find the menu navigation to a particular
application page quickly? Or do you sometimes have the name of a table
but no idea where it's maintained? Try this simple trick.
Suppose that you know the name of the page object. With
the page open in App Designer, just do a Find Object
References to see which component(s) the page is on.
This produces a list at the bottom of the screen. Now
you can double-click on the component to open it. Then
do another Find Object References to find the corresponding
menu(s).
Do you know only the name of the record (table)? Open
it and do a Find to get the page(s), then another Find
for the component(s), and another for the menu(s).
You can work your way up the tree like this for most
types of objects.

A new version of SP Debugger is now
available. Among various changes, you will now be able to export an entire array
to Excel with one click. You can also see the values of
substitution variables (the values set with #DEFINE). If
you're a current customer, I recommend that you login and download
this version (1.5.4).
