Oracle's acquisition of PeopleSoft is expected to close at the
end of this week...a quick end to a long process.
What's next for the product set? Oracle has promised
to support PeopleSoft 8 until 2013 and to complete development
of PeopleSoft 9.
And then Larry Ellison was widely quoted as referring
to a "PeopleSoft 10", directly contradicting
earlier statements from Oracle management.
That version would probably be a blend of existing Oracle and
PeopleSoft products, combining the best of both.
I'm guessing that PeopleSoft 10 is the "successor
product set" referred to in the Oracle FAQ
(www.oracle.com/peoplesoft/faq.html).
This FAQ is also a good, basic overview of the merger process
and plans for support and training.
Now that the controversy is over, the really hard work for Oracle begins.
I do hope they can pull it off.
